Since your question is so hazy I will only add that two things don’t need to be the same to be equal:
(2 plus 2) = 4
Different, yet equal.

The best toys are toys which engage and stimulate a child’s imagination, like LegO building blocks. Let the kids play with QUALITY toys, including BOOKS BOOKS and more BOOKS.

Firstly on the toy front, I did give my son a doll, my bit for feminism, and encouraged him to play with it for a while, it mysteriously disappeared without trace, not sure if he buried it or put it in the rubbish bin.

Even though gender roles are closing between men and women I believe there will always be more male mechanics and engineers and more women nurses and carers. In jobs like doctors and managerial jobs I think the numbers will become more equal.

Anyone who believes men and women are the same is deluding themselves, millions of years of evolution have made many differences in the genders.

Feminism is about equal opportunity, that more women will take time out from a career to raise the children will probably always be so and that more men will become firemen is down to the evolution of the genders. The point of feminism is that men should be able to consider that they might be the stay at home parent and that a woman can be a firefighter if she wishes.

Feminism is equal opportunity for women who want to do those jobs which break the mold from women’s traditional roles.

As an aging feminist I do not think it sexist for a man to open a door for me or pull out a chair, I consider it good manners.

Feminists don’t care about these customs, but the effect of the reasoning behind them: why do I need a door opened for me? why should I grow up learning how to be pretty rather than being active and adventurous?

The notion that being ‘a man’ means GI Joes and tonka trucks is rubbish.

How did little boys achieve ‘manhood’ BEFORE GI Joe was around? Just lived in limbo waiting for the great god mattel to give them something to help them achieve the elusive state of ‘bein’ a guy’?

Men are men by virtue of their anatomy and physiology, and women are women because of their anatomy and physiology.

The range of behaviours within those categories is very wide. In fact ~ this will surprise you, there are boys in this world who have never owned a tonka truck and feel qwuite at home with their manhood, and women whose hands have never caressed a little pony of any colour!

We’ll have double standards for perhaps forever, but children can choose whatever toys they like. We shouldn’t take away or force a toy onto a child just to set them up for a "normal" future.
