Renovation would describe the restoring of original features and or redesigning the property, installing new stairs, kitchen and bathrooms etc,,decorating is just that,,glossing over the cracks with paint of wallpaper without any reconstructional works,,

Renovation usually involves knocking down walls or other invasive stuff, whereas decoration means just putting together furniture, carpet, paint, exc in a pleasing way.

You might renovate an old building. You’d need to decorate a new one.

"Renovation" can mean lots of things … from tearing down walls to knocking out existing cabinetry. From moving existing plumbing and electrical access to installing entirely new ones. Usually, if a project involves a sledgehammer and a crowbar, it would be considered renovation!

Decoration, on the other hand, is purely cosmetic, and entirely for looks. Which doesn’t mean it isn’t important! It IS important, very much so.

Decoration is what makes a house a home, or what gives warmth to any space. It is the details … flowers, accessories, etc., that truly complete a room. Decorating (anything from choosing an area-rug to furniture arrangement to hanging artwork) is what makes a home feel inviting.

Renovation is either building, repairing or changing.

Decorating is usually changing the accessories.
