That really depends on whom you invite over. Offense, as well as Art are in the eye of the beholder. I’ve seen erect penis statues, bronzed piles of dog poop. Pretty offensive to most… but maybe not

It bothers me when religious folks think WAY too much into this kind of stuff.

If there IS a god, I really don’t think he cares what freakin’ rug you have. There are MUCH bigger issues in this world.

And anyway, the rug has PRAYERS on it, not cuss words!

I personally don’t think so, but most people that do so, use it in such as way that it is as clean as is humanly possible without putting the thing in a bubble.

These all perish with using after the commandments and doctrines of men.
If I visited you and you pointed out your prayer rug. I would probably admire its beauty.

Most likely, if you’re buying a rug for your home, it is in the prayer rug style, meaning it it asymmetrical, has a directional flow, and may be a smaller size. It may not actually be someone’s former prayer rug. It would not be offensive to put this type of rug on the floor. If it was the rug you used for your own prayers, that is a different story, but if you are using it and appreciate its beauty, I don’t see an issue. If you are in the market for an antique prayer rug, do a little homework. Antique shops aren’t always the best places to buy these. You may get a better price and more accurate information about the rug from a rug store.
