Who is the oldest living member of the British Royal family?

Under Family Category: Family Parenting

And how aged is this person? And what is their pretension as well as purpose inside of a family?

I am refrerring to a lengthened family or british royals, as well as not only a Queen’s chief family.

I think that the oldest is now Philip,Duke of Edinburgh.He is 87,and will be 88 on the10th of June ,born in1921.Princess Alice and Elizabeth,the Queen Mother,both lived to be past 100 year’s of age,but both are dead.

I think it’s the Queen at 83. Before her mom died, it would have been her at 101 years old

I’m pretty sure that it is Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband. He is 87. His full title is:

His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, Baron Greenwich, Royal Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle, Grand Master and First and Principal Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire, Member of the Order of Merit, Companion of the Order of Australia, Extra Companion of the Queen’s Service Order, Royal Chief of the Order of Logohu, Canadian Forces Decoration, Lord of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, Privy Councilor of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, Personal Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty.

Don’t bother reading it all.

His duty is basically to support the Queen in her duties as queen.

The oldest ever member of the British Royal Family was Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester. She died at 102.

The youngest member is currently James, Viscount Severn. He is aged 1 year, 5 months.

The immediate answer would be the present Queen’s husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh who is shortly approaching his 88th birthday.

However, if you’re looking for someone who is direct lineage of the royal house of Windsor (or Saxe-Coburg-Gotha if you prefer) and not someone who "married in" then the oldest living member would be the first grandson of George V and the Queen’s first cousin, George Henry Hubert Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood who is currently 86.

AGES ARE IN BRACKETS:
—————————
The last surviving great grandchild of Queen Victoria is
[92.6] Carl Johan Bernadotte, Count of Wisborg 31-Oct-16

=====================
The six oldest of the surviving great great grandchildren of Queen Victoria (several of whose names were mentioned ) are:
————————-
[soon to be 88] Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh 10-Jun-21
[87.6] Michael I, King of Romania 25-Oct-21
[86.3] George Lascelles, 7th Earl of Harewood 7-Feb-23
[85.3] Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma 14-Feb-24
[84.8] Prince Alfred of Prussia 17-Aug-24
[83.1] Elizabeth II, The Queen 21-Apr-26
====================
All of these six people are 3rd cousins, but several have closer relationships.
1) Elizabeth and Philip are also 2nd cousins once removed
2) Philip and Patrica are 1st cousins
3) Elizabeth and George are 1st cousins
4) Philip and Alfred 2nd cousins
5) Patricia and Alfred are 2nd cousins
============
King Michael, the last man who was a head of state in world war II, is only a 3rd cousin to the others.

Their is no definition of "royal family", but certain people are defined as "royal". The oldest "royal" is definately Prince Philip.

It is possible to refer to the extended House of Windsor as all of the legitimate descendants of George V who established the House in 1917. At the time he had six unmarried children (one of whom died the following year).
George Lascelles is the oldest of the surviving descendants of the George V (being born to Princess Mary only 6 years later). Queen Elizabeth is the second oldest.
=============
The descendants of Victoria are all in line for the throne of Britain, but are of many nationalities. As I said earlier, Carl Johan Bernadotte is the oldest surviving descendant, and the only surviving great grandchild.

I think my mother who is 85 fits in there somewhere.

On second thoughts, she may have only been a cleaner at Buckingham Palace. Does that count?
