What makes Roseannes family your average dysfunctional american family?

Under Family Category: Family Parenting

What events/experiences have a Conner family from a TV series, Roseanne, only similar to the families?

What problems do they have which would not be showcased in an comparison TV array similar to The Brady Bunch or Leave it to Beaver?

Personally I think the entire focus of the show is on the problems, never anything positive and I do not think the average american family live this way.

In older shows, the focus showed everyone to have the perfect, house, perfect mother, perfect father and usually the nearly perfect kids, and when things were not perfect, they worked out a perfect solution.

Neither type reflects real family life.
