We are originally from Ca.,moved here 6 yrs. ago. We lived right in the middle of the state and you could go 6 to 8 hrs. and never leave CA, at all! So it is hard to imagine living right on the border.I love looking at state maps,it’s neat that some towns are close to 4 or 5 states all at once. Imagine if they were all on different time zones!

@estelle715, yes i didnt know about the twin cities till just recently. so i had to research it.!. its cool because the left side of the road there is tennesee and the right side is virginia! LOL. that would be confusing! ~ Robert

I don’t know, it seemed automatic to me for her. Just played the song perfectly. That beautiful thumb roll up to the high note in the guitar solo is stellar. A nervous hand couldn’t do that move. Watching her, you realize she was more than half the Carter Family sound.

I wonder why Maybelle sounds so nervous and unsure of herself. She said they went to Bristol,Virgina.but, I read it was Bristol,Tennessee instead. Which is right? With all the yrs. spent on stage you think she wouldn’t be afraid of an interview.

Oh, and my Mother, and Aunt used to sing this song, and it was a family favorite. Love you Mother Maybell. I’ll be seeing you one day when we all get together in heaven.

i fully agree ,this song is so wicked, then the daughters come in and kill the vibes. maybelle has some serious timelessness in her voice, when she sings i feel like i could be on the far side of poor mountain , then the girls come in and i’m in a 60’s nasheville soundstage. maybelle ya large
