Under Family Category: Father in Family

Video of www.mormontabernaclechoir.org The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings “O My Father” during the Sunday afternoonsession of the 179th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hold during the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah in Apr 2009. “O My Father” Hymn #292 1. O my Father, thou which dwellest In the tall as well as stately place, When shall we recover thy participation And again spy thy face? In thy holy habitation, Did my suggestion once reside? In my initial incipient childhood Was we nurtured nearby thy side? 2. For the correct as well as stately role Thou hast placed me here upon earth And funded the correlation Of my former friends as well as birth; Yet ofttimes the tip something Whispered, Youre the foreigner here, And we felt which we had wandered From the some-more prominent sphere. 3. we had schooled to call thee Father, Thru thy Spirit from upon high, But, until the pass of believe Was restored, we knew not why. In the heavns have been relatives single? No, the suspicion creates reason stare! Truth is reason; law almighty Tells me Ive the mom there. 4. When we leave this thin existence, When we lay this mortal by, Father, Mother, might we encounter we In your stately courts upon high? Then, during length, when Ive finished All we sent me onward to do, With your mutual approval Let me come as well as dwell with you. Text: Eliza R. Snow, 1804-1887 Music: James McGranahan, 1840-1907 Relevant Scriptures: Romans 8:16-17; Acts 17:28-29 (22-31)

I cry every time I hear this hymn… It’s like the veil literally becomes so thin when I hear the words. I can’t wait to be with Heavenly Father again.

My father passed away day vefore yesterday. This was his favorite hymn. The soloist has graciously agreed to sing it at his service. I’ll need to borrow one of his handkerchifs.

prettybabe55, The lord didnt “take” your father. Life must happen and must going on. we all die someday. And if you really think about it on an eternal perspective, whats earthly death compared to eternity? its nothing but a stepping stone we all must take. I know without question that there is nothing more that your father would want and make him happier than to see you shine and grow in the gospel.

the spirit of the devil? AS pagan as mormonism the spirit of CHrist is no where in this apostatized church.

Oh que coro tan lindo, me gustaria escucharlo cantar algun dia los clasicos “Oh Happy Day”, “Go Down Moses” o “God is trying to tell you something”.

This hymn touches my spirit, and it did 30 years ago when I first heard it. I knew that this was spiritual at an earlier age, and still believe the words to be the TRUTH! I was taught this truth by a Grandmother who believed it also.
