I love Louden, his voice is as sweet as his lyrics and playing. He’s up there with Prine. He’s no dead skink.

That’s very sad. Life can be so cruel.
It’s Great that you and your dad have a relationship.

applause for that!

Good summing up of his appearance. I kept thinking he looks familiar! Eastwood, Malkovich . . . of course!

i agree with what you’re saying, because from what i’ve seen, loudon wainwright is a great guy. but i don’t think accepting someone for being gay should take a ‘tolerant and affectionate mind’. accepting someone for being gay should be a completey normal, average thing, nothing special. it’s great that he is proud of his son, because rufus is, like his father, amazing. but a person’s sexuality has nothing to do with talent. i know what i mean, but it’s hard to articulate!

123,
Simply, it’s about unconditional love, for me.

It sure takes a tolerant and affectionate mind, for a man to accept that his son is gay and to feel proud of him being in the music business too.
(check out ‘Rufus Wainwright’ – there are a number of songs of him that I really love)

The song reminds me when my dad told me that as a youngster, he would watch other fathers take their sons fishing and doing other things together, but he no longer had a father. My grandfather has been taken back to the soviet Union and shot with all other men under orders of Zhdanov and Stalin simply because he saw what it was like outside the Soviet paradigm. He tried to make sure that me and my brothers had a father he never really had.

My dad would not betray me like other men would.

I agree, it’s very weird hearing ‘the shit dad’ perspective… and relating to it in some way no matter how much you deplore it. Hmmm.

Louden is right. I’m a dad of men.

I KNOW! I don’t know much about his personal life, but I adore Rufus Wainwright, and Rufus said that he didn’t even acknowledge that he was. I absolutely love his music though!
