its officially christmas when you first hear this song, one of the few that captures the essence of the season like ‘fairytale of newyork’ and ‘last christmas.’ i wish you a hopeful christmas!

something thats always puzzled me – are those digeridoos (sp?) in the background?

It’d be horrible if humanity DIDN’T judge god. Because if we didn’t, then we wouldn’t have the wonderful view of atheism, would we?

God, that’s who.

Who is God to judge me?

TommyAtkins1966 wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

I assume (and hope) you are just joking. But if not, who the heck are you to judge God?

drexelur1 wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

@drexelur1 -I am well aware of their music(ELP),i grew up in the 70’s and i understand the lyrics as well as you do,which is to say you are right in your interpretation of father x-mas song. don’t get me wrong,i love the tune. merry x-mas to you,and a prosperous new year.

1975, wasn’t it???

sirtinycreep wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

I would have thought God would be more generous as to give us the Christmas ‘we deserve’.

If you love this check out A Christmas Song (Please Don’t Let December End) and spread the word

karlthec wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

How prophetic! Loved this song years ago. Means the same now though, “The Christmas We Get We Deserve”. WOW

richardf05 wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

actually this is what it sounds like when its on tv aswell and you have to consider that it was recorded way back in the 70’s

theuglyhairmonster wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

Thank you. I know, he did this alone. I was only commenting on the type of music that he is associated with, that it is deep. Again, not like Beach Boys (”Little St. Nick” etc.). :) It is one of my Christmas Favorites. (And on my “Favorites” list as well.) Happy Holidays!

drexelur1 wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

@drexelur1 You are correct! Keith Emerson E, Greg Lake L, and Carl Palmer P, but this is a Lake solo song 1976

Cheers

this isn’t HQ audio at all

queensofia123 wrote on December 1, 2009 - 1:41 pm | Visit Link

It makes me happy. But, I know what you mean. Remember, that Greg Lake was also in the group that sang “Lucky Man.” (I think it was Emmerson, LAKE, and Palmer.) You can interpret it many ways. He starts cynical, but relents, and wishes good things. “I wish you a hopeful Christmas…” The music is just deep. (Hey, it’s Em. Lake, and Palmer, not the Beach Boys! LOL!)
