This sort of eulogy is exactly the sort of thing I’m hoping to have one day… not necessarily on television, but this kind of honesty and love. Wonderful isn’t the right word, but I think you know what I mean.

no, what I mean is, is that after 20 years in America, he’s slowly losing the ‘edge’ to his accent. Craig’s not the only person to come to America, and slightly loose his accent, if you were to go to Scotland and live there for 20 years, you’d pick up on the ways they say words. I’m not calling him phony or whatever, just that when he talks about his parents and his family, or when Lynn was on the show, that he reverts back to the harsher scottish brogue. It wasnt being disrepectful at all.

@spgal8 Craig can do all sorts of accents. why would he choose to speak more american like now after almost 20 years in america? he’s such a sincere guy, he wouldn’t have purposely wanted to speak in an american accent. he’s not that type of phony.

Craig obviously has a vocal coach, who has helped him to talk with out his heavy scottish accent. Ive noticed that when he gets talking about his family, his scottish accent comes on way stronger. I just saw him live, and he sounded like this.

i dont know if ill be able to watch all of this. it makes me cry

But when he gets emotional the deep accent slowly reappears…

Thankfully, he sounds plenty Scottish enough to my American ear. Can’t get enough of him.

That was a great story about his dad, hope he knows he did it cause he cared, (and it was funny).

I miss his more normal Scottish brr that he covers up more now but I know it’s still there via outside interviews. Oh I look forward to hearing it in Feb Austin TX. He is such a class act. So much respect for his family.

What a tribute to a dad…a talk show host in Hollywood, what so many would consider a great pinnacle of life saying, my father set a standard I have no hope of matching. Now that’s a loving son.
Thanks for your candor about your drinking and your pride on achieving American citizenship.
Here’s to your next 1,000 shows,
Here’s to your dad.

its a sign of them feeling awkward
and it is awkward, theres a guy standing infront of you, sometimes looking directly n you face, telling you very personal stuff. they tried to overshadow that and being relieved about him making small jokes, makes them laugh

i think craig’s the best talk show host. ever. he seriously cracks me up every show. Humor just flows from him, hes a natural.
Besides that hes got heart. Seeing this made me tear, for gods sake….

Losing a parent was a very awkward time for me, I always thought that there was a particular way you had to react to the passing of your father, and I didn’t know what the proper reaction was, so I just became a very angry person. This euology helped me get through it almost 3 years later. Thanks Craig.

SexxyyAmber88 wrote on February 7, 2010 - 11:15 pm | Visit Link

yes i thought that they should be applauding when he said that his father retired as boss and 600 men were working under him

hmt444 wrote on February 7, 2010 - 11:15 pm | Visit Link

why.. would you clap at craig’s first trip to america like you’ve got to be patriotic when he’s giving a eulogy to his father

mymar86 wrote on February 7, 2010 - 11:15 pm | Visit Link

Craig is a great talk show host and comedian. He is also a humble soul. That was nice the eulogized his dad. I thought he should have gotten his Emmy for this episode. I need to read more of Craig’s book.

RealTime88 wrote on February 7, 2010 - 11:15 pm | Visit Link

True, true…they seem to applaud at the most inopportune moments. And yet. as you say, Ferguson’s oration-cum-wake here is awesome.
