5. Hair
What you need: Amino acids
Cystine, methionine and cysteine are crutial for hair growth and repair, explain a trichologist (hair and scalp specialist) at the Phillip Kingsley Trichological Centre in New York City.
What to eat:
Protein-rich foods including chicken, turkey, beef, eggs, cheese and nuts (all of which contain amino acids). Have a 3.5-ounce piece of meat, an eeg or a handful of nuts at each meal.
6. Ears
What you need: Zinc
Experts think hearing loos associated with tinnitis (ringing in the ears) may be linked to a zinc deficiency in the tissue of the inner ear, according to Dr. Rosenfeld.
What to eat:
Eight milligrams daily of zinc-rich foods including oyster (1 medium has 8 mg), chicken (1 cup chopped has 2 mg), beef (3 ounces of beef chuck has 6 mg) and lamb (3 ounces provides 3.8 mg).
7. Heart
What you need: Omega-3 essential fatty acids
The lower LDL (”bad”) cholesterol levels, blood pressure and triglyceride levels while raising HDL (”good”) cholesterol - all of which reduces your risk for heart disease, says Dr. Rosenfeld.
What to eat:
Three 6-ounce servings of cold-water fish such as salmon, mackerel or sardines per week.
