Under Family Category: Hobby and Leisure

I have the lot of giveaway time nowadays, as well as I’m seeking for ideas about what kind of hobby we could get into. I’ve never been means to keep up with the single hobby or wake up for really long…I lend towards to get sleepy of things quickly. But, we wish to be good/skilled during something so badly!

So, what do we do with your giveaway time? Any suggestions for the twenty-five year aged male?

You could take up pipe smoking as a hobby. There is a great variety of pipe tobacco to choose from, and collecting briar pipes is great to.

GUITAR ALL THE WAY! It’s so fun! Soloing and stuff. Or drums, drums are fun. It’s expensive at first, but you don’t really have to pay more to maintain.

Paintball is also very fun! But costs a lot to maintain.

I suggest learning a new language. If you search around online there are plenty of programs that are free and you will be amazed how easy it is to learn when you want to. Hope this helps!

Photography is awesome! You can get a fairly inexpensive digital camera and enjoy hours of fun. If you get good enough at it you might try entering a contest or making Christmas gifts for others of your favorite shots. Have fun!

Well man, im 15 and I enjoy a wide variety of things. If you want to be skilled at something give Xbox 360 games like Halo 3 or Mass Effect a try. Also try something with music or writing. I write songs every week or so and its very grabbing. Basically all im trying to say is do something that you can express yourself in. For me its using my ideas in writing or use my love of competition in matchmaking in Halo 3.

Well If your good with basic mathematics and have and sense of artistic ability, and are willing to pay some money few hundred to a thousand, get yourself the program Chief Architect, it is a professional, easy to learn, user friendly home design program. If you get good enough you can even sell the designs to people interested in building a house.

sing and learn to play the piano. these are two skills that take a little bit of work each day, and have different levels of learning it. you start small and take baby steps to getting great. once you learn both skills you can learn to put them together and than keep this skill for the rest of your life. If your not into music, i would suggest different sports, join some teams at the Y, workout, join a country club, a book club at the library, just find something that you like to do and go for it! :)

Well we’d really need to know your interests before we could help you pick a hobby. Do you like to do outdoor nature type stuff? Do you enjoy computer games? Do you enjoy working with your hands?

My hobby is gaming. Computer, PS3, Xbox.

Hobbies can range from a variety of things…model cars, building ships in bottles, I had an uncle who made his own duck decoys for his duck hunting. I personally paint, play piano, and dabble in little crafts now and then.

They can also include more practical things as opposed to the "killing time" kind of hobbies…if your good with wood, make things…they could be something small like a birdhouse, or something practical like furniture (entertainment center, coffee table) or even an outdoor picnic table. Possible even a play house or jungle gym if you have children.

Mechanics may pick up an old car, motorcycle, or boat to restore.

For someone more electronically inclined, repair old electronics. This could be DVD players, VCRs, or even old entertainment systems (like Nintendos or Segas)

For those "computer geeks", repair old computers. This is a nice hobby to do and donate working computers to shelters, or Boys and Girls clubs, or some other such organization.

If your not really good at anything, possibly reading books (this is nice because you can put it down when you tire of it and pick it up months later if you wish), or starting a garden (an herb garden is nice and practical for your own herbs). Flower beds are good for landscaping.

Literally anything can be a hobby.

Since you don’t stick to hobbies for very long, I wouldn’t pick one that cost a lot of money to get into.
Hiking is a good one to get you outdoors, is healthy, cheap, and you can get a friend to go with you.
Bowling is really fun with a group, so join or form a league. It’s a great way to spend an evening.
Get a bike and take up Mountain biking, it costs more than hiking, but you can sell the bike when you want to change hobbies.
Take up photography and you can do that while hiking.
Take it a little farther and go backpacking. You will need some equipment for that, and use the internet to find out what you’ll need.
If you’re near the water (lake or ocean), you can rent a jet ski, or boat and take up skiing, or fishing. With renting you can find out if it’s for you, before you buy any expensive equipment.
I have done all of these hobbies, and have enjoyed all of them.
We also have a Harley and enjoy riding that more than anything else right now. A couple of years ago, we rode all the way across the country to Yellowstone National Park, and Rocky Mtn. National Park. I wouldn’t trade that for any other hobby.
Have fun whatever you decide to do, and never look back at what you could’ve, should’ve done.

Like the previous answers – photography is a great choice.

But another super suggestion is Ham Radio (aka Amateur Radio) which an FCC licensed radio service that allows you to operate two-way radio communications over many different radio bands – for both personal communications with family and friends (also need a license) and also are able to help your community with emergency and disaster communications. Great small high tech radios for local radio contacts or larger radios for world wide coverage.

Fun and useful ! And Morse Code is no longer needed on any of the exams. Just written exams. A radio club in your area would be a good visit, you will find Hams there willing to help you get licensed but at the links below you can even find all of the online Q&A to help you pass the exam. Even online practice exams – to build your confidence. Once you pass the exam, you receive an FCC call sign like "WA6ABC" – and you use that on the air to ID your communications.

Find a club using this page:
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/club/clubsearch.phtml

Visit: http://www.hello-radio.org/ for more info and other links.

Good luck with your search.

how about going to the gym, setting a lifetime goal and commitment and getting in the best shape you can is a good hobby if you ask me.
There are so many things out there, the list is endless, what do you particularly like to do?

Take up crochet it is fun there are many tutorials online it never gets boring because there is always a variety of different patterns that you can find online to try and you could always learn new specialty stitches plus it isn’t expensive to start you can get the stuff to start for less than $10, and you can make a variety of different items. It helps relax you, and it is good for dexterity.
