You best bet is to go to different schools. They usually give a one week free trial. That way you find what you like. Ask them if it is a fighting school. Some schools show you your Katas (forms) but don’t show you how they are applied (Defense & Fighting). Look for a school that is not "Business Oriented". To many students and not enough quality time for individual student time. Ask around about the Dojo and the Sensei. Ask the Sensei respectfully, about himself and about his awards and achievements. My Sensei not only teaches but spars and competes in tournaments. When you go to a Dojo watch how the students act. If you going to study Martial Arts it is best to learn every aspect of Martial Arts, you will appreciate it more.

To stay fit the best style would be kick boxing, boxing, muay thai, and the contact sports types of martial arts. if you are looking for traditional types then probably the taekwondo, karate, and other traditional yet sporty type. but in general most martial arts will give you a good work out to a certain degree. feel free to visit different martial arts places in your area and watch a free lesson or ask what their style is like.

I would say that you need a martial art that has a lot of cardio in it. Although every martial art is meant to keep people fit but i would say it’s between kickboxing and tae-kwon-do but if you are into fighting and stuff, join a mma club (Mixed Martial Arts) like ufc and stuff, that will keep you fit and teach you to fight but i would say kickboxing or muay thai would be the best option for your goals!
Hope this helps! Good luck bro!
